Gooey Dark Chocolate Cakes for Two.

Molten chocolate cakes for you and your Valentine! (or both for you)

Valentine’s Day is just a month away!

With the holiday comes lots of chocolate! So today, I’m sharing a recipe for two for the gooey-est dark chocolate cakes. This is possibly the best chocolate cake you will ever eat.

A trick is to add extra chopped chocolate to the top of the batter right before you bake it. That way, you get an extra chocolate-y taste (and the texture of silky smooth chocolate!) when scooping that first bite. Top with whipped cream or vanilla bean ice cream, additional melted chocolate, and festive sprinkles, and you have the perfect sweet treat for two.

Gooey Dark Chocolate Cakes for Two.

  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 6 tablespoons white, granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Additional semisweet chocolate, chopped plus some melted (for topping)
  • Whipped cream ((for topping))
  • Festive sprinkles
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease two 5-inch oven-safe mugs or ramekins. Set aside.
  2. Microwave chocolate and butter in a small bowl until melted. Stir until fully incorporated. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, egg yolk, and sugar, about 1 minute. Whisk in chocolate mixture. Fold in flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Divide the batter between the two greased ramekins. Sprinkle some additional semisweet chocolate on top of each for double the chocolate.
  4. Bake cakes for 7-10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out semi-wet (if you do not like gooey cake, simply bake for an additional minute or two until the toothpick comes out clean). Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla bean ice cream, a drizzle of melted chocolate, and festive sprinkles. Enjoy with someone you love!
